Senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has sparked reactions online after sharing relationship advice for men and women planning to go on dinner dates.

Speaking during a sermon in a viral video, the clergyman described dinner dates as an opportunity for familiarisation rather than a solution to hunger, urging women to avoid embarrassing themselves by ordering takeaway food.

“Going out on a dinner date is a platform for familiarisation. It’s not a cure for starvation. What are you doing carrying takeaway? Don’t you have respect for yourself?” he said.

Suleman advised women to eat before leaving home and ensure they have enough money to pay for whatever they order in case the man decides not to foot the bill.

He also cautioned men against taking women to restaurants they cannot afford, saying it is embarrassing to complain about prices after inviting someone out.

“Eat very well from home. Have money in your bag to order what you can pay for in case he doesn’t pay. And you as a brother, don’t take someone on a dinner date to a place you know you can’t afford.

By the time you get there, you start behaving like a possessed person. They tell you water is ₦2,000 and you start shouting,” he added.

His comments have generated mixed reactions online. While many agreed with his advice on financial preparedness and dating etiquette, others argued that couples should simply communicate their expectations before going out.

One user wrote, “This is one of the best dating advice I’ve heard in a while.” Another added, “Some ladies will still carry takeaway no matter what.”
