Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, has appointed Dr Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, for a two-year term.

The Governing Council approved the appointment on Friday, June 19, 2026, according to a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs Olubunmi Siju Asunmo. The appointment takes immediate effect.

Dr Raimi, 66, is an associate professor in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science. He is currently head of the department, a position he has held since the institution attained university status in 2023.

According to the release signed by the institution's Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan, described the appointment as a vote of confidence by the council. "The approval of the recommendation of the University Senate on your appointment by the Governing Council was a reflection of the Council's belief in your delivery," Prof. Olaniyan said. "I welcome you on board into the university administration and expect you to contribute your quota as an alumnus, academic and administrator. Congratulations, and here is wishing you a successful tenure."

Dr Raimi has served on the Governing Council of the defunct college; chaired key committees, including Results Computation and the 2026 Council and Senate Retreat; and was Senate Representative on the university's first Governing Council.

A prolific scholar, he has published over 70 articles in journals, conference proceedings, and textbooks, including one sole-authored book and four co-authored titles. He has attended more than 40 academic conferences locally and internationally.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, STAN, and the Nigeria Football Referees Association.
