Alhaji Ardo Wokili Madugu, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), tragically lost his life in a road accident on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The incident occurred around 4:38 PM along the Lambata-Izom road in Niger State when a trailer, having hit a pothole, toppled onto the commercial vehicle he was traveling in near Malam-Karo village.

According to Alhaji Ahmed Dahiru, the MACBAN FCT Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Madugu was trapped under the fallen trailer and died at the scene. While there were no immediate reports on other casualties, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) transported his body to his residence in Gwako village, Gwagwalada Area Council, where he was buried shortly after.

The news of Madugu's death has sent shockwaves through the MACBAN community and beyond. His funeral prayers, held at his home, were attended by prominent figures including the national chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Baba Usman Ngelzarma, and several area council chairmen from the FCT. The Aguma of Gwagwalada, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Magaji, and Gwagwalada Area Council chairman, Hon. Kasim Mohammed Ikwa, were also present to pay their respects.

Kasim Mohammed Ikwa expressed his sorrow over Madugu's passing, describing him as an honest and gentle man. In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mohammed Isah Hassan, Ikwa extended his condolences to Madugu's family and the wider Fulani community in the council.

Madugu's death marks a significant loss for the Miyetti Allah association, where he was known for his leadership and dedication to the welfare of cattle breeders. His commitment to the community will be remembered by many, as he played a vital role in advocating for the rights and interests of herders in the region.

This incident follows another recent tragedy in the country, as Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the chairman of the National Population Commission, also passed away earlier under unfortunate circumstances. The community mourns both leaders, reflecting on their contributions and the void left by their untimely departures.
