Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the recent Osun State governorship election, has extended his congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke following the latter's victory in the August 15, 2026 election. Speaking in Osogbo during a gathering with APC leaders and supporters, Oyebamiji emphasized the need for immediate action to address violence and harassment targeting APC members in the state.

In his address, Oyebamiji expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support throughout the electoral process. He also acknowledged the contributions of former Governor Bisi Akande and Adegboyega Oyetola, the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, in strengthening the APC's position in Osun.

Reflecting on his journey to becoming the party's governorship candidate in December 2025, Oyebamiji noted the unity among various factions within the APC that ultimately focused on achieving electoral success. He highlighted the extensive campaign efforts that engaged diverse groups across Osun State, including civil servants, students, artisans, and religious organizations.

However, the APC candidate did not shy away from addressing the troubling incidents of violence that marred the election period. He recalled the tragic killings of key party members, including former Irewole Local Government Chairman, Remi Abass, and the APC Chairman in Atakumosa Local Government, Chief Gbenga Ogbara, among others. Oyebamiji called for a thorough investigation by the Nigeria Police Force to ensure that those responsible for these acts of violence are brought to justice.

In light of the state's 35th anniversary, Oyebamiji urged Governor Adeleke to fulfill his constitutional duty to safeguard the lives and properties of all residents. He condemned the ongoing attacks on APC members and supporters, asserting that such violence must cease immediately. "The senseless killings, harassment, and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith," he stated.

Looking ahead, Oyebamiji encouraged APC members to remain steadfast and committed to the democratic process, despite the election outcome. He called on party leaders and supporters to begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, particularly in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. He urged unity among party members to strengthen the APC's structures and secure victories in future elections.

In closing, Oyebamiji praised the resilience and dedication of APC members, reiterating the party's vision for a prosperous Osun where resources are equitably distributed and governance serves the interests of all citizens.
